Happy Friday!

Well we're back! After a few weeks off as the market was closed for the holidays, we are now back and with more lettuce than ever!! :D

We have a few new kinds this week (sorry I don't have any pictures): crunchy red leaf and red bib(butter head).

What is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a way of growing vegetables sustainably. It is rather similar to hydroponics, only where in hydroponics, you need to add nutrients to the water, we have very large fish- tanks stocked with fish; so the fish give us all the nutrients we need for the plants to grow. The way that this system is more sustainable than hydroponics, is that the water is curculated through the whole system. We pump fishy water to the plants, the plants suck up the nutrients (thus filtering the water), the water is then pumped back into the fish-tanks as clean as if we had put it through a filter.
