Happy Friday!

The weekend is finally here, and time once more for the Farmer's Market! We still have not recovered from the heat wave from last week, and so we have even less lettuce, but we have been planting like crazy all week, and should have more soon. :) We are still going to be at the market tomorrow, just know that the lettuce will most likely go fast, so stop by early and get some! We have other veggies from the garden, and new baked goods this week!! We still have our cinnamon buns and bread, but we have some new things for you all to try: Zucchini Cupcakes, Lemon Blueberry Bars, Italian Cream Cake (in slices), and we now have our Nut Chip Cookies back by popular demand! So come see us tomorrow, and I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

What is Aquaponics?

Aquaponics is a way of growing vegetables sustainably. It is rather similar to hydroponics, only where in hydroponics, you need to add nutrients to the water, we have very large fish- tanks stocked with fish; so the fish give us all the nutrients we need for the plants to grow. The way that this system is more sustainable than hydroponics, is that the water is curculated through the whole system. We pump fishy water to the plants, the plants suck up the nutrients (thus filtering the water), the water is then pumped back into the fish-tanks as clean as if we had put it through a filter.
